Eating the Elephant, GeekOut

[GeekOut] Productivity

So much stuff to geek out about, so little time. For years I’ve bandied about the aphorism that you’ve gotta do what ya’ve gotta do, until you can do what you wanna do. The less time, money an energy it takes to do that things that you have to do, the more you can spend on the things you want to do.  That’s why I’m a huge productivity geek. I don’t want to waste my life doing stuff I don’t like. I either try to do it well, learn to do it efficiently, or at least find shortcuts so that I can do the bare minimum quickly. Productivity isn’t just about learning to do the things you love well; it’s about learning to do the things you hate.

Productivity is generally thought of as a means to an end, but it can also be an end unto itself. Organization is like a game. It’s a whole other form of creativity. It’s about making the pieces all fit together in the best possible way. I could throw around some blather about being your best self, but it does feel good when you can get tedious things done with less stress and get on with the important things in life.

About Berin Kinsman

Hello, I’m Berin. I am a freelance writer, putting down words on things as varied as short stories, screenplays, recipes, productivity advice, and tabletop games. Those are all things that I love, and I enjoy working with and promoting fellow bloggers, writers, editors, and publishers who share those interests. My other passion is working with groups that assist the poor and the homeless. This is my way of trying to be the change I’d like to see in the world, as well as paying it forward in honor of everyone who has ever helped me in large or small ways. I currently live in Albuquerque, New Mexico with my wife, the incredibly talented artist, crafter and educator Katie Kinsman, and our small army of cats.
