Iced Coffee is Iced

If I haven’t mentioned it before, my wife Katie is a genius.

Typically, the two of us can kill off a pot of coffee with no trouble. Once in a great while one of us will have our fill early, or won’t be feeling well, or something will come up, and we’ll end up with leftover coffee. Katie will sometimes go back later and microwave a cup, which I admire her for but simply cannot do. Reheated coffee is (to me) bitter, nasty, and a crime against coffee, but I profess to being a coffee snob and more than a bit weird on the subject. Rather than waste coffee, Katie also started putting leftovers it in a thermos. Excellent idea. If one of us wants more later in the day, there it is.

With the weather turning warmer we’re both drinking less hot coffee, so Katie has begun to put the thermos directly into the refrigerator so we can have iced coffee later. She’s also started pouring leftover coffee into ice cube trays. I told you, she’s a genius. No more watered-down iced coffee as the cubes melt. No wasted coffee. Brilliant.

  1. I think you are genius for publicly praising your wife. The ice cube coffee idea sounds good too.
